Sound Central, a rapidly-expanding sound rental
company based in Wisconsin, has purchased a NEXO
Alpha System as its primary tour rig, becoming
the first production company north of Chicago to
offer the Alpha system.
Incorporated just 2 years ago (its four founding
partners have been trading unofficially since
1995), Sound Central has quadrupled in size in
this remarkably short time by providing
high-quality production support for conventions,
music tours, theatre, outdoor festivals and
corporate events throughout the northern
mid-West.
Sound Central's new NEXO inventory consists of
four S2 sub-bass units, ten B1s and six M3
cabinets, two NX241 digital controllers, and an
entire Crossbow flying system. Supported by
Crown power amplifiers, the Alpha System becomes
Sound Central's 'A Rig", moving their other
systems, EV and JBL, into as needed, 'B' and 'C'
rigs.
Brandon Sipola, one of the partners in Sound
Central, explains why he chose NEXO, "We had
demos from every audio rig manufacturer, until
we were at a complete yawn. We ended up talking
to our own customers, even with managers of
bands that we were working for, and they were
unanimous in recommending the Nexo Alpha. They
told us that it flies fast and sounds great, and
you can go from gospel one week to hard rock the
next. Many made a point to say that NEXO‚s
reputation and their own personal experiences
with the Alpha System made them state that the
system performs so well that it does absolutely
every type of program material effortlessly."
"Intrigued and excited that we might have found
what we looking for, we called NEXO USA and
spoke with them and bought a system, sight/sound
unseen. They shipped it within days of receiving
our purchase order and the day we received it,
we fired it up in a local, poor acoustic arena.
We thought it would be an excellent test of the
system and were so surprised at the result. The
Alpha came alive right out of the box. It was
astounding when we lit it up. Since then, we've
had more experience with the Crossbow Flying
System, the lightweight, modular cabinet design
and its' really easy, handling aspects, and
we've found that Alpha not only sounds great but
is very reliable in terms of field service
time."
The Alpha's versatility is being tested from the
start by Sound Central's client list: the system
made its debut with pop band Vertical Horizon,
moving on to the hard alt-rock style of Fear
Factory, and then to dates with BB King.
"NEXO USA has already sent a quote for our next
purchase to receive before year end," says
Sipola. "We're targeting to grow the system by
another 50% which will gives us the capability
to handle 10-12,000-capacity shows. Inclosing, I
can only say that we are extremely pleased in
our decision to purchase a NEXO Alpha System."
